Avoid submerging your pearls in water to preserve the thread of pearl necklaces. Avoid extended direct sunlight or high temperatures. 

 

How to care for your pearls daily.
Detergents and acidic solutions can cause wear to your pearls so be sure to   Wipe pearls clean with a soft cloth after contact. Always put on your pearl jewelry after applying make-up and hair spray. Since the pearl's luster can be harmed by perspiration, make it a habit to wipe down after wear. 

 

How to store your pearls.
Although pearls are generally very cohesive and shock-resistant, they may be scratched by sharp objects or other gemstones. To prevent tangles and scratches, store each item separately in a lined jewelry box or fabric bag or box. Pearls can begin to dehydrate when left in a dry box for too long so wear often! 

 

How to maintain your pearls.
Even with the best of care, pearl jewelry is best maintained when checked by a professional yearly and restrung yearly. Small parts of jewelry may come loose and threads can weaken. A specialist will also professionally clean your pearls, restoring the luster you've come to love.
